Task 3_

The idea of ignition within the context of built environments can be used in the comparison between built environments when they are in use and when they are not, or between projected built environments and actual ones in terms of the life and activity within these environments. Ignition here applies to the beginning of activity, when an empty space suddenly fills with users, whether they pause in the space to perform an action or are just using it as a transitional medium to arrive somewhere else, ignition refers to the change of speed and intensity within an environment, bringing life to the environment, whether it be sudden or gradual.

The ignition of activity in an environment changes its quality and atmosphere, the sounds and smells alter our perception of the said environment, creating in some ways, an entire new environment.

Task 1_ Set

In any process of change, of alteration or modification, the definitions of 'set' encompass the various stages and sequences of the process, from beginning to the end. To compare the extremities of the process (the start and finish), 'set' refers to the static state of the object/subject of change, where all the molecules which it is comprised of are in a stable state. Here, the starting stage is different from the end stage in that 'set' also refers to the said molecules being in a state of preparation for the change, before the molecules are ignited and become unstable.

The state of changing, the in-between stages are the most interesting, not only because they barely resemble the initial or final object/subject, but because the said molecules are energized, and the infinite possible sets of molecular configurations influences the possibilities of the final outcome. This means that the in-between state is the most important in the process of change.
